§ 1-7. Imprisonment and labor.

  • Any person in default of payment of any fine imposed, and financially able to pay the same, may be committed to the city or county jail until the fine is fully paid at the rate of five dollars ($5.00) each day. Any person imprisoned under the provisions of this Code may be put to work for the benefit of the city for the term of his imprisonment. The committed person shall be allowed, exclusive of board, a credit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each day's work.

    No female prisoner shall be required to work in public, nor shall any prisoner be required to work on Sunday.
