§ 25-84. Design criteria for irrigation systems.

Latest version.
  • The design of all irrigation systems shall meet the minimum design and installation requirements of 30 TAC 344.61-62, including, without limitation:

    (1)

    Zoned irrigation based on plant materials type, microclimate factors, topographic features, soil conditions, and hydrological requirements;

    (2)

    Head spacing and matching of precipitation rates of emission devices;

    (3)

    Limits on overspray of impervious surface;

    (4)

    Incorporation of rain or moisture shutoff devices;

    (5)

    Pressure regulation;

    (6)

    Velocity in piping.

    Designs shall include a schedule of all emission devices used, along with the manufacturer's model number, radius, and precipitation rate at design pressure; and a seasonal watering schedule base on either current (real time) evapotranspiration or monthly historical reference evapotranspiration (historical ET) data; monthly effective rainfall estimate; plant landscape coefficient factors; and site factors. The watering schedule shall be based on the precipitation rates for the emission devices used, and shall demonstrate that full coverage of the area to be irrigated can be accomplished within the city's published watering window.
