§ 28-57. Penalties.

Latest version.
  • Any person, firm, or corporation violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a Class C Misdemeanor. After all provisions of Sec. 28-55 have been followed and the violation has not been rectified, any person, firm or corporation who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for each offense involving zoning, fire safety, or public health and sanitation, and shall be fined five hundred dollars ($500.00) for all other violations of this ordinance. Each day or any portion thereof during which any violation of this chapter occurs, or continues, shall be deemed a separate offense and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable as herein provided.

The registration of any sign contractor may be cancelled by the Building Official when such sign contractor repeatedly violates the requirements of this chapter. Conviction in court, whether appealed or not, on two (2) violations over a period of twelve (12) consecutive months, shall constitute evidence of repeated violation. Any repeated violation shall thus cancel the license or registration and not be renewed for such sign contractor, or anyone operating in concert with such sign contractor, for the remainder of their annual registration or until all such violations have been corrected. Upon correction of violations, the sign contractor's license or registration may be renewed upon furnishing the required bond.
