§ 2-73. Eligible participants.

(a)

Each person less than sixty (60) years of age (or who was less than sixty (60) years of age when that person became an employee of the city) who becomes an employee of any participating department on or after the effective date of participation of such department shall become a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System as a condition of his or her employment.

(b)

Any employee of the city who is a member of the system is eligible to retire and receive a service retirement annuity if the member has at least twenty (20) years of credited service in the system performed for one (1) or more municipalities that have adopted a like provision under section 854.202(g) of the TMRS Act.
