§ 32-69.1. Fares—Generally.

  • The city council hereby establishes and approves the following schedule of taxicab rates and charges. All taxicab permit holders and drivers shall comply with the schedule hereby established:

    (a)

    Laredo:

    Initial flag drop ..... $4.00

    First one-quarter (¼) of a mile and each additional one-quarter (¼) mile ..... 0.50

    Each additional passenger having the same origin and destination ..... 1.00

    Waiting time, per minute ..... 0.35

    (b)

    Nuevo Laredo, Tamps., Mexico:

    Rates are the same as within Laredo except for an additional surcharge of ..... 12.00

    (c)

    The following rates will be used to charge fares when written approval has been given by the city manager for a permit holder to operate a taxicab without a taximeter or during the approved holidays listed in subsection (e) below.

    ZONE RATES CHART

    Zone I: $ 5.50 Zone I to VI: $25.00
    Zone II:   6.50 Zone II to VI:  35.00
    Zone III:   5.50 Zone III to VI:  30.00
    Zone IV:   6.50 Zone IV to VI:  35.00
    Zone V:  40.00 Zone V to VI:  60.00
    AIRPORT SURCHARGE: $5.00

     

    How to compute fares between zones you add the designated fares for the zones you cross, example:

    Airport to Greyhound Station 5.50 + 5.50 + 5.00 = $16.00

    Trip to or from Zone V will be at a flat fee of $40.00.

    Immigration Impound lot to Bridge I = $40.00

    Holiday Schedule; zone fares in effect plus a twenty dollar ($20.00) surcharge for trips to Nuevo Laredo only.

    (d)

    During the holiday periods or when authorized to operate a taxicab without a taximeter, drivers will use the zone map and the zone rates chart to compute fares.

    (e)

    During the following dates fares to Nuevo Laredo will be charged using the five (5) zones plus a twenty dollar ($20.00) surcharge.

    Holiday Schedule

    February:

    • Washington's Birthday Celebration commencing with the Saturday prior to the Parade and ending on the Sunday after the parade.

    April:

    • Easter Celebration commencing with the Thursday prior to Easter Sunday and ending on Easter Sunday Night.

    May:

    • Mother's Day commencing on Mother's Day and ending on that night.

    • Memorial Day weekend commencing on Friday and ending Sunday night.

    June:

    • Father's Day commencing on Father's Day and ending that night.

    September:

    • Mexican Independence Day Celebration commencing September 12 and ending September 20.

    November:

    • Thanksgiving Day commencing Thursday and ending Sunday.

    December:

    Christmas Holiday Period commencing December 18 and ending January 3.
