§ 6-8. Disposal of large livestock not redeemed.

  • Large livestock which are not redeemed within three (3) business days after midnight of the day of impoundment (or after observation or quarantine period) shall become the property of the city and may be sold in any commercially reasonable manner by the city or designee. The city shall be entitled to recover from the proceeds of the sale all impoundment and keeping fees for the large livestock, plus all reasonable expenses of affecting the sale.

    Any large livestock for which no reasonably available market exists or whose retention may be detrimental to the health and welfare of the people or animals may be euthanized.
