§ 8-25. Same—Burials.

  • (a)

    Any person desiring to have a deceased person buried in the city cemetery shall first apply to the cemetery supervisor for such purpose, whose duty it is hereby made to faithfully bury all deceased persons entrusted to his care for burial, upon a certificate being furnished him by the attending physician of the deceased, or in case such certificate cannot be obtained or there was no physician in attendance, then with a certificate from some practicing physician. Such burial certificate shall in all cases state the name, age, sex, place of burial and residence of deceased, the time, place, and cause of death or as many of such particulars as can be obtained.

    (b)

    Such certificate shall first be delivered to the cemetery supervisor before the burial of any deceased person; and should he bury any deceased person without first having such certificate, he shall be subject to punishment as provided in section 1-6 of this Code.
