§ 10-2. Voting precincts and polling places.

  • (a)

    City election precincts numbers 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12A, 12B, 12C, 13, 14, 15, 16A, 16B, 17B, 17C, 27, 28, 29 and 30 shall have the same boundaries and the same description and polling places as set forth in the "Order of Commissioners' Court of Webb County Reestablishing and Redefining Election Precincts" dated the Seventeenth day of March, A.D., 1977, and passed by the commissioners' court on such date, a copy of which order of the commissioners' court is attached hereto and made a part hereof, to the extent necessary, to describe by number and boundary such election precincts, as well as the polling places set forth in the order of commissioners' court of such date, a copy of which is likewise attached hereto and made a part hereof.

    (b)

    City election precincts numbers 18, 19 and 26 shall include within their respective boundaries all of the land within the corporate boundaries of the city within such respective county voting precincts.

    (c)

    The city secretary's office in the city hall is designated the polling place for absentee balloting in all city elections.

    (d)

    The city council further makes the following findings of fact in connection with the subject matter of this section:

    (1)

    That the election officials in every municipal election will be able to utilize the county voter registration lists for the purpose of identification of the qualified voters within each precinct.

    (2)

    That the utilization by the city and the county of identical voting precincts, save and except for city voting precincts 18, 19 and 26, will materially contribute to the simplification of the electoral process and the convenience of the qualified electors participating in all elections.
