§ 32-59. Not to be used for nonbusiness purposes.

It shall be unlawful for the owner or driver of any taxicab to use such vehicle for any purpose other than the transporting of passengers for hire, or for running errands or delivery of packages customary in the taxicab business for hire. In the event the owner of any vehicle licensed as a taxicab under the provisions of this article, during off duty hours needs the use of such vehicle in his personal affairs, a conspicuous sign with the words "OUT OF SERVICE" shall be displayed; and it shall be unlawful to use such vehicle for any purpose other than taxicab purposes set forth above unless the "OUT OF SERVICE" sign is displayed as required.
